About MTNL
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited, or MTNL, is a telephone service provider, owned by the government of India. MTNL provides service in Mumbai, Thane, New Delhi, and Navi Mumbai in India. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited was founded on April 1, 1986 by the government of India, to hopefully upgrade the quality of India’s telecom services, expand India’s telecom network, introduce new services, and to evetually raise revenue for telecom development needs of India’s key metros, Delhi and Mumbai.
The mobile services of MTNL provide cellular connections through both of the following technologies.

- Dolphin (Postpaid)
- Trump (Prepaid)
- WLL (CDMA) Technology
- Garuda-FW
- Garuda-Mobile
From December 11, 2008, MTNL began to launch their 3G cellular service under the name of MTNL 3G Jadoo, making MTNL the first 3G service provider in India. In addition, MTNL plans to provide full 3G coverage across India by mid-2009.
